I attended the Berlin Klassik show in Kitchener last month and was able to show off some new accessories for the All-New 2015 Golf. Volkswagen Canada put together a “Trendline” 2015 Golf with some of the coolest accessories like the skirt kits, 19” twin spoke rims, rear centre exhaust, and many other parts that are all available through the Volkswagen parts department.

The event truly showcased the variety of car models and modifications that enthusiasts put together and I had the chance to see everything from lowered cars, new and unique modifications, and custom interior and exterior body designs. Also on hand was the Dyno Test (this measures the actual horsepower at the wheel) and Kevin Duggan took home the honours of having the most HP in his VW Golf R32 with an insane 495 WHP.

This was the largest show to date and there were 800 cars on display and competing for 125 trophies including the Top Dawg of the Show, which was won by Norbert Axtman and his immaculate 1967 Beetle Convertible.

Volkswagen Canada was also able to give back to our fans by providing VAGKRAFT (Brampton) with a trophy for Best in Show, the John Di Battista Award. This is a dedication to John who passed away from cancer earlier this year. John was one of the show’s founding members and a Volkswagen enthusiast through and through. He will be sorely missed in our community.

I have been involved with and attended many local shows in Toronto over the years and I’m very proud to have met and created connections with like-minded fans that are true ambassadors of everything Volkswagen. And I look forward to meeting more of them for many years to come.
